Who are we

Ward Ulenaers

Ward is a passionate musician who has been immersed in the world of music from a young age. His musical journey began at the music academy, where he developed his skills on the piano. At the age of 17, he found his way to the youth choir Rejoice in Ekeren, a place where his love for music grew further.

During his time with the choir, Ward discovered the cajón, a percussion instrument that immediately appealed to him. He was soon approached by older boys from the choir with the request to support them with this instrument in a new band. Although the cajón produces a beautiful sound, Ward soon noticed that playing on a static instrument had limitations. He searched for an alternative that offered more interaction, but could not find anything that really suited him.

What followed was a period of creativity and collaboration with his father. After years of experimenting and tinkering, the Cahang was finally created: a mobile version of the cajón that allows percussionists to move and express themselves freely during performances.

Ward is now a permanent fixture in the music world and plays percussion in the band Spiegelei InC, where he can fully express not only his rhythmic talents, but also his passion for music. He is also a valued member of the band Hummingbird and regularly plays with the choirs Rejoice, Chorix and Cantemus.

With an unmistakable dedication to his craft, Ward continues to enrich the musical landscape with his unique style and innovative ideas. Welcome to his musical adventure!
